Whidbey Island’s Marimba Center

Nzira

Nzira is a Zimbabwe-inspired marimba ensemble coming together in performance to raise awareness for those in need, and to celebrate through the music our connection to the greater world community.

Our primary goal is to provide financial aid to village relief efforts, and to assist and show our gratitude to our Zimbabwean friends and teachers.

In 2006 we raised $2,100.00 towards starting the development of a water system for Dewedzo High School, which is part of the Jangano project in Zimbabwe.   With those funds we acquired the plans and permits, took over a submersible pump, flushed the existing borehole, and initiated the plans for the well house.  One of our goals is to raise funds for building and installing water storage tanks, wiring and water pipe.

Jangano project is under the direction of Ancient Ways, a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
Contributions are tax deductible.  www.ancientways.org

In 2007 we contributed funds for transportation fees of the six-member mbira group, Mawungira Enharira, for their first US tour, which took place in the summer of 2008.

Thank you for your contributions!
